Construction Project Manager Day one — Tuesday, September 8
A welcome from David

A quick hello before you dive in.

Where it started

A century of controlled movement.

Pilates began with Joseph Pilates — a German-born nurse and anatomist who, while rehabilitating injured soldiers during WWI, rigged springs to hospital beds. That idea became the reformer, and his method — controlled movement, balance, body awareness — is the practice taught in every studio today.

He called it Contrology — controlled movement, balance, and body awareness.
Joseph Pilates · New York City · 1926
The method
1883Joseph Pilates is born in Germany.
1910sInterned during WWI, he develops his method — Contrology.
1926Joseph & Clara open their NYC studio; dancers and performers take to it.
1934He publishes Your Health.
1967Joseph Pilates dies; his students carry the method forward.
Club Pilates & Spartan
2007Club Pilates is founded in San Diego — reformer Pilates as an accessible group class.
2012–13Club Pilates begins franchising.
2015Anthony Geisler acquires Club Pilates; it later joins the Xponential Fitness platform.
2020Spartan begins building its Club Pilates platform.
2023Snapdragon Capital Partners invests $30M+.

How we got here

From four studios to a national platform.

It started with David Schuck — our Founder and CEO — and six Club Pilates licenses in North Carolina, built on a track record of success with Liberty Tax.

From four built studios in FY20, the business has grown to 172 today — through a steady mix of acquisitions and new builds, with open studios posting strong double-digit organic growth.

Inside the studio.

Most studios follow the same Club Pilates blueprint — a familiar layout and member experience from the front desk to the reformer floor. No two sites are exactly alike, but the bones are consistent.

For future growth
This is the engine behind every studio — and it's the same one that turned 4 studios into 172. Every new location runs the same play, which is exactly what makes the next chapter repeatable.
How we grow

How the network keeps growing.

Two ways to add studios — build new ones, or buy existing ones — plus the playbook that fills each studio and the pipeline that staffs it.

Build
New Studio Openings

We build from the ground up — a governed site-to-open lifecycle, and it's a true team effort: Development, Finance, Legal, People & Ops all aligned at every gate. Where to build is decided by data, not hunches.

10+studios opened a year
~6–12 months · site to open
Buy
Acquisitions

We acquire existing studios to enter a market with an established team and members — sourced through relationships, not cold brokering.

Open
Presale

A new build never opens empty — an ~18-week presale builds the membership and pipeline first, so the doors open with momentum. (Acquisitions arrive already up and running.)

150+founding members before opening

Staff
Teacher Training

Classes only run with great instructors, so we grow our own — turning engaged members and fitness pros into certified teachers, always building the bench to stay ahead of a growing studio count.
